A NOTE FROM THE GARDEN

The number is only useful if you know what it means.

A bed that measures 8 feet by 4 feet, filled 12 inches deep, needs 32 cubic feet of material before any allowance. That is about 1.19 cubic yards, or 22 whole 1.5-cubic-foot bags.

The volume is a measurement. The bag count is a purchase quantity, rounded up. We show both, and let you decide whether an extra allowance makes sense for your material.
